AMHERST, NH: Interware Development was presented with the Breastfeeding Friendly Employer Award by the New Hampshire Breastfeeding Task Force (NHBFTF) for their commitment to supporting working families. In May, Interware Development implemented a lactation policy, created a private lactation room, and committed to supporting nursing families in the workplace.
The Breastfeeding Friendly Employer Award recognizes workplaces for their family friendly practices and policies. The NHBFTF is comprised of 49 members in all ten counties and is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of nursing mothers through outreach and advocacy.
The Affordable Care Act requires employers across the U.S. to give women time and a space, to pump their breast milk, but it does not mandate specifics. In June 2018, the Task Force partnered with Keene State College to raise awareness and promote workplace lactation programs. Interware Development was one of many workplaces across the country to set new standards and expectations for employers.
